He chose to go to Grand Valley State Colleges in Michigan specifically so he could get hands-on experience at their campus station and media program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For most of his career he hosted the top-rated midday program on WLAV-FM in Grand Rapids. Beyond being a rock jock he also developed, hosted and eventually syndicated a few other programs about movies, sports and jazz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"524\" src=\"http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ts-lav-1980s-800x524-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"203\" class=\"wp-image-203\" srcset=\"http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ts-lav-1980s-800x524-1.jpg 800w, http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ts-lav-1980s-800x524-1-300x197.jpg 300w, http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ts-lav-1980s-800x524-1-768x503.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">Tim Steele at WLAV-FM, early 1980s<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He also hosted a morning talk show and <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/interviews_intro.mp3\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/interviews_intro.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">conducted about 3000 interviews.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, through his own business, he wrote, produced, hosted and syndicated <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/promo.mp3\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/timsteele.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/promo.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">The Sports Page, a weekly 30-minute radio game show<\/a><\/strong>.
